Stock Talk With The Czars: 2019 NFL Week 3
September 27, 2019[vc_row][vc_column width=”3/4″][vc_column_text]Alright, another week in the books! As is always the case, the play by those on Thursday, Sunday and Monday have continued to cause a major influx of cards into the market. If you scroll through the card groups on Facebook, or posts on Instagram, the moment that a young player has a big game, their cards magically come out of the wood work. Strike while the iron’s hot, right? Based on the reaction from sellers from all corners of the internet (and using some of our own intuition) we like to put it all together in a pretty package for you to see here at Card Czar. Each player has a link to their cards in our inventory, so if you want to pick up some of these players, simply click on the name and see what we have in stock!
So without further ado, let’s go![/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/4″][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_separator][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”3/4″][vc_custom_heading text=”Week 3 Top Performers- STOCK UP” font_container=”tag:h1|text_align:left” use_theme_fonts=”yes”][vc_column_text]
Quarterback
Russell Wilson
Boy did I get destroyed by Wilson’s 50+ fantasy points this week. 406 passing yards, 51 rushing yards and 4 total TDs…yup that’ll do it. In a year where QBs have either been retiring, getting injured or are just flat out disappointing, Russ continues to be Mr. Reliable. His value within the industry continues to stay steady
Running Back
Alvin Kamara
Who needs Drew Brees when you have Alvin Kamara? OK the Saints would love to have Brees on the field, but Kamara did a heck of a job stuffing the stat sheet Sunday against the Seahawks, totaling 161 yards and 2 TDs. It was typical Kamara game that we have been waiting a few weeks for. Expect more of the same moving forward.
Mark Ingram
Kamara’s former teammate Mark Ingram had himself a day, rushing for over 100 yards and adding 3 TDs in a high scoring match up with the Kansas City Chiefs. The former Heisman Trophy winner has had himself a solid start to 2019 and deserves some more hobby love.
Phillip Lindsay
Another slow starter in 2019, Phillip Lindsay rewarded those who kept the faith in him by posting 130 yards from scrimmage and 2 TDs in a losing effort Sunday. Due to the scarcity of his rookie cards (since he was an undrafted free agent in 2018), Lindsay’s value within the industry continues to stay strong.
Wide Receiver
Mike Evans
Mike Evans, 4 of my fantasy football teams thank you for your dominant performance on Sunday. 8 catches for 190 yards and 3 TDs was a site for sore eyes that drafted Evans in the 2nd round…and for my tiny PC of a couple Evans autos. You knew it was only time that he reminded those who follow the NFL that he is the alpha dog in the Buccaneers receiver room
Keenan Allen
I had some concerns with Keenan Allen and his ankle injury coming into the season, but those are long forgotten. Once TE Hunter Henry went down with a multi week injury, Allen saw his target share go up from 10-12 to 16-17. Not one to post huge TD numbers, Allen continues to be Mr. Reliable and reel in ~100 catches a season. Will 2019 be the year that he starts to see more respect in the hobby? It should be.
Cooper Kupp
We are in the circle of trust here, right? OK good. I thought that Cooper Kupp would have a tough time coming back from his 2018 ACL tear. Well, guess what? I’m an idiot. 2 straight 100+ yard games (and 2 TDs to boot in Week 3), Kupp is back to form. Still relatively cheap, he is a great buy low. I fully expect Kupp’s card value to shoot through the roof if he continues this stretch he is on.
Tight End
Darren Waller
Well we don’t have any Waller cards for sale yet because he only has a few to his name, but if he continues to post stat line of 13/134, you can bet that Panini will make him a regular in sets that release towards the end of the season and in future years. He is clearly the #1 target in the Raiders offense and should continue to dominate targets while the Raiders play from behind. Top tier TEs seems to hold solid value, so go pick up some Waller cards while you can before the prices sky rocket.
Honorable Mention
Daniel Jones
I’m going to hold off on anointing this guy the next hobby star because he shredded a Buccaneers defense that is hot garbage, but Jones at least proves to the draft day doubters that he belongs in this league. His prices are ridiculous right now on Facebook and Instagram ($100+ for a base auto), so do the right thing and pick up a couple of his base rookies from Card Czar for a reasonable price.
Kyle Allen
I’m going to hold off on anointing this guy the next hobby star because he shredded a Cardinals defense that is hot garbage, but Allen at least proves…OK I can’t do this again. Listen, the 2018 undrafted free agent played well against the Cardinals. I won’t take that away from him. In fact, he is likely going to see extended playing time with Cam Newton probably looking at a multi week absence as he tries to come back from a Lis Franc injury. So maaaaybe Kyle Allen turns into something? I mean he was the #1 pro style QB coming out of high school and lost his job at Texas A&M to future Heisman Trophy winner and #1 pick Kyler Murray, so the talent COULD be there. I’m just not paying crazy money on this lotto ticket, though I am definitely keeping tabs on him.
Jacoby Brissett
I was thrilled to profit off a couple Brissett rookie autos that I picked up for $3-$4 years ago once Andrew Luck retired, but did I give up on them too soon? Brissett has looked solid as the Colts’ QB1 and should keep them in the playoff conversation this season. Fortunately, I still have 3 of his autos hanging around my PC and I’m sure you’ll see 1 or 2 of them on the website eventually. In the meantime, we have a bunch of his base cards available at a price you’ll love!
Wayne Gallman
The next man up in NY with the Saquon Barkley injury, Wayne Gallman is set to see 20 touches a game. What can he do with those touches? We will see soon, but the RB1 role in New York is enough to get people hyped. Saquon is likely out 6-8 weeks, so you have time to buy Gallman low now.
Tony Pollard
Pollard was a hot name back when we thought Ezekiel Elliott would miss time holding out, but once Zeke reported, Pollard’s upside all but disappeared. Well playing in mop up duty against a putrid Dolphins team resulted in 128 yards from scrimmage and a TD from Pollard, re-igniting some of the hype he had back in August.
Sterling Shepard
Back from a concussion, Shepard absolutely torched the Bucs defense (see a common theme yet?). This will be his first season as the Giants clear cut WR1 and still you can get his stuff for basically free.
Marques Valdez-Scantling
One of my favorite off season pick ups, MVS has settled into the WR2 role in Green Bay and has been benefiting from teams focusing on Davante Adams. A physical freak, Valdes-Scantling could have a 1,000 yard year in only his 2nd NFL season.
Stock Down/Buy Low
Lamar Jackson
He had to come back down to Earth after destroying both the bottom tier Dolphins and Cardinals defenses. Baltimore headed into KC and Lamar got a taste of reality. Jackson is still very talented, and his cards should be in the upper tier based on how he has played and the upside he oozes, but prices will come down as the market realigns itself.
Baker Mayfield
I’m firmly in the camp that Baker Mayfield will be a great NFL QB. The Browns are basically rolling out a brand new offense and it’ll take time for them to gel. Unfortunately for Baker (but fortunately for smart collectors) cards that were once being lined at 10 @ $25 are now being liked at 10 @ $10 as asking prices have come down considerably for the 2nd year QB. Do the right thing and go get some cheap Baker rookies for your PC and watch your portfolio’s value go north
Saquon Barkley
Sadly, injuries happen to guys that touch the ball 25+ times and Saquon is no exception to that rule. He took a hit and landed awkwardly on his ankle, resulting in a high ankle sprain. As a survivor of about 100 high ankle sprains (and eventual surgery), I know it’ll take a while to come back from that. High ankle sprains generally mean that ligaments are actually torn and that injury is actually worse than a broken ankle. Saquon will be watching from the sidelines well into November, so if you can pick up one of his cards for a great deal until then, do so. This is not an injury that will have any long term impact on his overall health.
Todd Gurley
It’s clear that the Rams are trying to keep their All-Pro RB healthy and will deploy him at the end of the season or in the playoffs. It’s great for Rams fans, but not great for those who have invested in Gurley’s cards or shares in fantasy football. The only strategy I can suggest today is try to buy low and hope he rips it up in the playoffs, boosting his value a bit.
Stefon Diggs
Diggs is one of the most electric players, but the Vikings continue to focus on running the ball and clock management, resulting in Diggs seeing minimal targets and opportunity to make some noise. He has always been somewhat of a streaky player, but long term lulls could lead to his cards devaluing significantly. Now with that being said, I could easily see him string together 3 straight Top 10 WR performances, so that is why I would swoop his cards up now.
