5 UP
5 players whose performances this past week have collectors running to grab their cards
Tyreek Hill – Last week I said I Wasn’t concerned with Tyreek’s lack of production…yet…and clearly he is a subscriber to our newsletter because he caught 11 balls for 186 yards and 3 TDs as the Chiefs went video game offense on the Eagles last week. Tyreek is back in fantasy owners’ good graces after this week winning performance.
Patrick Mahomes – Well if Tyreek is going to catch TDs, who is throwing them? Patrick Mahomes did. And then Mahomes threw 2 more, totaling 5 and 278 yards, en route to yet another 40+ fantasy point game. Yours truly FOOLISHLY sat him in favor of Tom Brady, hoping Tom would have a revenge game for the history books buttttt that didn’t really work out. Fortunately, I still got the W!
Sam Darnold – Michael Vick or Sam Darnold? Can you tell the difference? For serious though, Darnold is the only QB in NFL History to rush for 5 TDs in the first 4 weeks. Pretty wild stat. Anyways, Darnold is looking like the real deal in Carolina. It’s amazing what happens when people leave the clutches of Wild Eyes Adam Gase!
Jalen Hurts – This one feels good since I was heavy into buying Hurts’ raw cards and getting them slabbed by SGC in the off season. With a great QB1 performance against the sieve KC defense, Hurts continues to prove he is the real deal
DJ Moore – I don’t know if DJ Moore was ignored more by the fantasy community or the hobby, but either way, he is balling out with Sam Darnold. It is ridiculous how often Sam looks his way, but those who have him in the lineup or their PC are thrilled with the results so far. Moore eclipsed the 100 yard mark for a second straight week and found the endzone twice. He is on pace for a career year stat line of 120/1600/12 and is the overall WR4 through 4 weeks.
5 Down
5 players who struggled last week and could see their demand in the hobby drop a bit based on their fantasy output
Dalvin Cook – I will chalk his lackluster Week 4 up to the ankle still holding him back. Fortunately he has a Week 7 bye, so that early rest may be exactly what he needs to get right again.
CeeDee Lamb – I was hyping CeeDee up preseason and we have really yet to see the dominant production outside a Week 1 7/104/1 performance. Hell, he has only gotten 8 targets in the last 2 weeks. This week against the NFC East rival Giants feels like a “get right” game for Lamb
D’Andre Swift – Didn’t Dan Campbell say we were going to see more D’Andre Swift? Cool. 12 touches in the Week 4 loss to the Bears. Do the right thing, Dan, and feed your best player.
George Kittle – I’m guessing this was due to his calf injury that made Kittle look hobbled, but 4 catches for 40 yards should be what Kittle puts up in a quarter or a half…not a whole game. Let’s hope he can build a rapport with Trey Lance.
Miles Sanders – Once thought of as a great fantasy asset, Sanders continues to be pedestrian at best each week. Week 4 he only logged 10 touches. The Eagles have to get him more involved.
Stay Cold
Waiting for these guys to break out and/or get out of the dog house!
AJ Brown – Blah production and now missing games with a gimpy hamstring. Titans need to figure it out soon.
Kyle Pitts – I tried to warn you about rookie tight ends…
CeeDee Lamb – See above
Allen Robinson – This guy. I can’t believe what he’s been doing, or what he hasn’t been doing. He went from being a lock for 6-8 catches to a guy you pray will hit double digits.
Myles Gaskin – Ya know, when I took him in the 4th round of my favorite league I thought it may be a reach. After Week 4’s 2 carry day…he may be dead to me. Considering how well he played down the stretch last year and the lack of talent in that backfield, I am baffled how he isn’t getting 15-20 touches a week. BAFFLED I SAY!
Players To Keep An Eye On
Joe Burrow – HE’S HEATING UP! Burrow was never cheap being the first overall pick, but he has certainly been overlooked due to the success of Justin Herbert and Jalen Hurts, but now it looks like those who had faith in Burrow may be ultimately rewarded.
Cordarrelle Patterson – It only took about 10 years and countless teams, but Patterson has turned into a legit fantasy asset. One thing to keep in mind though. During his 30+ fantasy point day, he was only on the field for 23 of 76 snaps. He did the most with those limited snaps, BUT this may be a great time to sell high on Patterson if you can.
Diontae Johnson – There may be no safer WR2 than Diontae Johnson. His floor is almost always at double digit points in PPR leagues with how ofteb he gets peppered with targets.
James Conner – Remember this guy? Well he has been playing great for the Cardinals, notching 2 TDs the last two games as their lead “between the tackles” RB. He was hot for a bit and could retain some hobby love if he keeps producing RB1 numbers.
Trey Lance – Well that was quick. It only took til Week 4 for Jimmy G to get dinged up and Lance was forced into action earlier than expected. Let’s see what the kids got!
Injury Report
Joe Mixon – Sprained Ankle – Week to Week. Chris Evans or Samaje Perine may get more looks
David Montgomery – Hyper Extended Knee – Out 5-6 weeks. Damien Williams is a must add in all leagues
Will Fuller – Broken Finger -Week to Week
Jimmy Garoppolo – Calf Strain – Multi week injury. Trey Lance time
Rookie Report
No major shakeups to the tiers…yet…but collectors have to start getting concerned about this year’s QB crop and their early season struggles
Tier 1
Trevor Lawrence – OK OK. We have seen some life from Lawrence. Let’s just hope the inner turmoil in Jacksonville doesn’t derail this train any more…
Mac Jones – I had concerns with Mac’s production last week, but those concerns were quelled a bit after he looked great against the tough Tampa defense in less than ideal weather.
Najee Harris – Najee continues to be the workhorse in Pitt and it won’t be changing any time soon.
Tier 2
Devonta Smith – Big game from Devonta as he enjoyed his first 100+ yard game as a pro.
Zach Wilson – THE JETS WIN! THE JETS WIN! And what is most important, Wilson didn’t look terrible! We can build on this Zach!
Trey Lance – Now is his time to shine. Let’s see what he’s got.
Kyle Pitts – Not ready to move Pitts down to Tier 3 just because of his long term upside and the rest of the rookie class has been so so, but it hasn’t been pretty for the rookie TE.
Tier 3
Trey Sermon – MOVIN ON UP! Sermon got the chance to be the lead back on Sunday and produced RB2 numbers
Tier 4
Kadarius Toney – Played the slot and caugh 6 balls for 78 yards
Travis Etienne – On the season ending IR due to a foot surgery. Hopefully Etienne can come back 100% in 2022
Rashod Bateman – Currently on the IR recovering from a core muscle surgery
Kenneth Gainwell – Outscoring RB1 Miles Sanders. Could there be a changing of the guard at RB in Philly?
Davis Mills – That was fun while it lasted
...And Everybody Else!
Kellen Mond
Rhamondre Stevenson
Pat Freiermuth
D’Wayne Eskridge
TuTu Atwell
Kyle Trask
Dyami Brown
Amari Rodgers
Nico Collins
Amon-Ra St. Brown
Mike Strachan
Jermar Jefferson
