Stock Talk With The Czars: 2019 NFL Week 5

October 9, 2019

[vc_row][vc_column width=”3/4″][vc_column_text]Hand up, I was celebrating a buddy’s engagement, so I only really watched the Patriots closely, but the numbers are the numbers and the performances are the performances. Next week, I’ll be in Vegas celebrating another friend’s bachelor party, so I am sure that the #takes will be brief in the Week 6 Stock Talk, but they will still be there.

Let’s Go![/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/4″][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_separator][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”3/4″][vc_custom_heading text=”Week 5 Top Performers – STOCK UP” font_container=”tag:h1|text_align:left” use_theme_fonts=”yes”][vc_column_text]

QUARTERBACK

DeShaun Watson
Collectors were all over Watson this off season. His 2017 Prizm RC (Even though it looks like a Silver parallel, remember that ALL rookies from 2017 have this look. I will remind you all of this until I am blue in the face. I don’t believe in false advertising) has jumped from being a $5-$7 card to a $40-$50 card. If he has more weeks like this (426 passing yards and 5 TDs), he could start to hit Mahomes pricing ($200+ raw).

RUNNING BACK

Aaron Jones
Jones and his 4 TDs were music to the ears of his collectors and fantasy football owners. He absolutely dominated the Cowboys on Sunday afternoon, and if he can stay healthy, could put up elite numbers running behind the Packers offensive line.

Christian McCaffrey
Stop me if you’ve heard this before, but CMC dominated yet again. It’s time we took him seriously as the best running back in the NFL. It’s also VERY criminal how cheap his rookie cards are on our site. Another huge game or two and those prices are going to shoot up, so do the right thing and add those cards to your shopping cart

WIDE RECEIVER

Will Fuller
It’s never been a question of whether or not Will Fuller is talented. The former 1st round pick has all the skills to be a weekly contributor on Sundays. The problem is his availability. The injury bug hits him and hits him hard. This week was a different story though as he was on the receiving end of 14 DeShaun Watson completions and racked up 217 receiving yards and 3 TDs. Fellow collectors are keen to his upside because anytime I ran across his RPAs or high value rookies, their price usually was a bit higher than I wanted to pay. Looking back, maybe I should have made an investment.

Michael Thomas
MT was quiet the first few weeks that Teddy Bridgewater (more on him later) was under center, but Week 5 was different as he finished with 11/182/2. One of the league’s premier receivers, Thomas is still wildly underrated in card collecting circles. Time to change that.

Amari Cooper
I said some choice words when the Packers failed to tackle Amari en route to his 53 yard TD as that singlehandedly ruined one of my fantasy football games, but then I remembered the graded RPA I am sitting on and suddenly everything was OK again. Amari will always have a following being a highly drafted player out of Alabama. Now that he is finding success with the Cowboys (another huge fan base), he could quickly become one of our site’s biggest sellers.

TIGHT END

Gerald Everett
It was a rough week for Tight Ends when the top performer is Gerald Everett, but here we are. Many have probably never heard of the Rams 2017 2nd round draft pick because we live in a society that throws players aside if they don’t perform the first year or two they are in the league, but the 3rd year Tight End is a player I have been following for a bit. I have a few autos set aside in my “what if” box and we have another auto for sale on the website if you click on Everett’s name. Teams key in on the talented Rams receivers, which can leave Everett wide open. A few more games of high end production and Everett may be considered a Top 10 at Tight End, which is not a position of strength in 2019.

HONORABLE MENTION

Matt Ryan
It wasn’t pretty, but Matt Ryan still finished with 330 yards and 4 total TDs in the losing effort. The Falcons are a weird team, but Matt Ryan continues to hold value as an above average player to PC

Russell Wilson
There is nothing worse than having 40 points put up against you on a Thursday night in fantasy football, and that is just what Russ Wilson did this week. Ouch, that hurt.

Teddy Bridgewater
Teddy 2 Gloves has not only earned himself a ton of money when he hits free agency with his play in relief of Drew Brees, but he has pumped some life into those collectors who invested in him all the way back in 2014 when he was a first round pick by the Vikings

D.J. Chark
Much like how I told anybody who would listen to me that Mark Andrews was going to be a stud in the NFL, I was trying to tell you to invest in D.J. Chark. Hopefully you did. If you didn’t, well we got you covered. Now about my James Washington suggestion…yikes.

Adam Thielen
The squeaky wheel was greased this week and Thielen finished with 7/130/2

Chris Godwin
The bipolar season of the Tampa Bay receivers continues. Some weeks it is Mike Evans. Other weeks it is Chris Godwin. This week Godwin got his and finished with a stat line of 7/125/2. He’s still wildly cheap to buy right now, so if you haven’t already, pick up some of his cards

Michael Gallup
Returning from a 2 week absence, the Cowboys #2 receiver continued to impress in his sophomore season to the tune of 7/113/1

Tyler Boyd
People, it is time to start snatching up  Tyler Boyd’s cards. He has the size and skill to be a Top 10 WR. What are you waiting for? Ho hum, he posted another studly stat line of 10/123/1 last week

Josh Jacobs
The Raiders rookie RB broke out this weekend in London against a stout Bears defense and finished with 143 YFS and 2 TDs. He looks like the real deal and should be treated as such

Sony Michel
I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t nervous about Sony Michel headed into Week 5. Thankfully (for my fandom and PC), Sony turned things around against the Redskins and have the best game of this young season. Phew.

Tevin Coleman
Welcome back, Tevin! After a few games off with an ankle injury, he shredded the Browns defense on Monday night with 96 yards and a TD

Will Dissly
I mentioned last week that elite TEs always carry a premium in the industry. While I don’t think Dissly ever turns into an elite player, he has a chance to become a Top 5 TE statistically in 2019. So pounce on him while you can

STOCK DOWN/BUY LOW

Baker Mayfield
It’s getting harder and harder for me to defend Baker and the Browns. As a closet Browns fan (I went to school in Cleveland and have vicariously lived through my friend to experience the pain of this franchise), I want them to be good, but the team (and QB) that finished on a high note in 2018 has been MIA in 2019

Mason Rudolph
Rudolph has actually been pretty solid since he was given first team reps and the starters job, but he suffered a scary hit this weekend and will likely miss the Steelers’ Week 6 showdown with the Chargers since Pittsburgh has a bye Week 7. A Week 8 game against the Dolphins may be exactly what the doctor ordered for hobby and fantasy football success…

Mike Evans
This up and down roller coaster of a season for Mike Evans is going to give me severe heart burn before it is all said and done. Catchless in Week 5…REALLY?!?

Marquez Valdez-Scantling
Primed for a huge role in Week 5 with Davante Adams out, MVS fell flat on his face and only caught one ball. NOT GREAT![/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/4″][vc_single_image image=”102011″ img_size=”full” alignment=”center”][vc_single_image image=”102010″ img_size=”full” alignment=”center”][vc_single_image image=”102013″ img_size=”full” alignment=”center”][vc_single_image image=”102012″ img_size=”full” alignment=”center”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”3/4″][vc_column_text el_class=”blog-action”]Please give us a follow and join our community on Facebook and Instagram and don’t forget to check back as we continue to add new inventory to www.cardsczar.com[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/4″][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]
